FAQs
Below are answers to some common questions our customers ask on a regular basis. These detailed and straightforward responses should help you decide whether Guich Couture is right for you. We will continue to update this FAQ section as new questions come in.
At Guich Couture, we only offer full-bespoke garments. Every client goes through an extensive measurement process, and their measurements are used to create a unique paper pattern in our local New York workshop. This pattern allows us to take every measurement into account when creating the suit. All garments are hand-sewn with a full canvas construction and hand-sewn functioning buttonholes.
Guich Couture is known for its excellent fit, which sets us apart from other companies. Our founder, Guich, has a passion for fashion and style and has four generations of fitting and patternmaking experience. This ensures that we can create the perfect-fitting suit for you, no matter what style you prefer (e.g., slim fitted or classic).
If you are not fully satisfied with the fit of your garment, Guich Couture offers a 100% refund. In fact, any garment that does not fit correctly after two fittings is automatically recut. A truly bespoke suit should look great after just one fitting. The more fittings and alterations the garment goes through, the more it begins to look and fit like an off-the-rack suit.
Custom suits will take three to four weeks to be completed after the time of your initial order. A 12-day rush service is also available for an additional fee. The delivery time may vary depending on the complexity of the pattern needed for your garment. Custom shirts will take two to three weeks to be completed, although a rush service with a 10-day delivery time is available for an additional fee.
Yes, we offer basted fittings at Guich Couture. After taking a client's measurements, we create a unique paper pattern and use it to hand-cut and assemble the garment. The garment is then temporarily hand-stitched with white basting thread, allowing us to make any necessary adjustments to the fit and style during the fitting process. This ensures that the client is completely satisfied with the final fit and appearance of their custom-made suit.
Approximately 90% of our new clients do not require any additional fittings or alterations once their garment arrives. We offer a "Perfect Fit Guarantee" and will refund or recut the garment at no additional charge if it is not perfect after two fittings.
At Guich Couture, we offer alterations for the life of the suit at no charge. If you gain or lose weight, we will alter the garment to ensure a perfect fit.
Yes, we can replicate the fit of a suit that fits you well. In addition to taking your own measurements, we also take several key measurements directly from the garment, including shoulder point-to-point, half waist width, button stance height, shoulder slope, waist and seat, and others. We may also ask you to borrow the garment for a week so that we can take more complicated measurements at our factory. Please note that replicating the fit of a favorite garment may add a few extra days to the delivery time.
Yes, we can make a custom suit or shirt using fabric that you provide. The process is the same as if you had chosen the fabric from our own selection, except that the delivery time may be slightly longer (about one week) due to the need to "sponge" and clean the fabric before cutting.
Guich Couture prioritizes quality and customer service above all else. We believe that the best way to achieve this is by producing our garments locally, rather than outsourcing them to be made overseas. This allows us to maintain control over the production process and ensure that our suits are of the highest quality. Additionally, producing our garments locally allows us to have a shorter turnaround time, as our suits are not subject to the longer delivery times that come with offshore production. We also value being able to offer a more personalized experience to our customers, as our local production allows us to be more accessible and responsive to their needs.
Guich Couture is happy to offer home or office appointments to our customers. We understand that our clients are busy and value their time, so we are happy to come to them to take measurements and help them select fabrics. This service is available by appointment, at a time that is convenient for our clients. The process is the same as what you would experience in our showroom, but at a location that is more convenient for you.
No, all styling designs, including working buttonholes, pick stitching, and extra pockets, are included in the price of the garment at Guich Couture. This applies to all of our garments, with the exception of vests and extra sets of trousers.
No, there is no need to remove any clothing in order to be measured at Guich Couture. Our measurement process is designed to be quick and convenient, and only requires minimal clothing adjustments.
At Guich Couture, we have a wide selection of completed garments available for you to see and try on, representing a variety of fabrics and styles. Our experienced sales team will also be able to guide you through the process and help you visualize the finished product, explaining the benefits of different fabrics and styles. We are confident that our expertise and wide selection will allow you to find a fabric and style that you will be completely satisfied with.
To ensure that your new garments from Guich Couture stay in the best possible condition, we recommend avoiding dry cleaning them too frequently. Dry cleaners can be harsh on suit fabrics and can cause the fibers to break down over time, leading to a loss of quality. Instead, try using steam to remove wrinkles or stains, as this is a gentler method that can be just as effective. If a stain does not come out with water or seltzer, it is okay to take the garment to a dry cleaner, but be sure to ask them to use natural cleaning agents rather than harsh chemicals. This will help to preserve the quality of your garments and extend their lifespan.
